Born Flavia Alessandra Martins da Costa in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, she is the daughter of Rachel and Helio. Before ending in divorce, her marriage to actor and director Marcos Paul produced a daughter named Giulia; through her later marriage to television personality Octavian Costa, she has a daughter named Olivia.

Between 2002 and 2008, she was nominated for six Contigo Prizes for her acting work. She and Adriana Esteves were both in the cast of the Brazilian television series Bites & Assopra.
