She had a romantic relationship with Pepe Diaz from 2011 to 2013, then began dating her From Dusk Till Dawn co-star D.J. Cotrona. In 2012, she took on a starring telenovela role on Amores Verdaderos. She signed a recording contract with EMI Televisa Music, an agency that had also represented the late Latin pop legend Selena.
